I declare my love for Wellington (What I stand for)

It’s time for a change and to get some real progress on the things that really matter to Wellingtonians such as; sorting out the traffic bottle neck between the tunnels (cut & cover and double tunnel), keeping any rate increases aligned to inflation, develop our surburban town/village centres not the airport extension, make our CBD more vibrant through better shared spaces and activities for people, being open for business growth and moving traffic out of the way; and get Council to buy more from local businesses. Save Jack Ilott Green and don’t waste our rates on deconstructing Frank Kitts park.

Housing affordability continues to be a growing challenge but focusing medium density housing on areas away from where the jobs are, is not helping. There is still plenty of room left in the inner city to develop quality density housing while enabling natural infill development to occur in the suburbs. We also need to get the Council to administer its town planning rules better through more efficiencies and consistency of application. This will give certainty to both residents and developers.

Last but not least, Council needs to really listen to and engage with our communities much earlier on in designing for the future.

Having worked with governing Boards, held senior roles in the public sector and now running my own small business, I know I have the experience and skills to be part of the new Council in October.  I will bring back real progress to our city.
